Alma College

I'm sure not many have even heard of this college, which makes sense because it's located in a small city within Ontario. (St.Thomas) and it's been sitting there, broken down and old for quite a while now.
So what makes it important?

Well, besides the fact it's simply a beautiful piece of history in Ontario (erected 1881) it's also the set for a Canadian movie, starring a hilarious Canadian actor.
The movie is called Mr. Headmistress and released in 1998. Harland Williams (from Toronto) starred as a freed criminal, seeking refuge from enemies who are out to get him. He disguises himself as the new Headmistress of an all girls college (Alma College) and of course, the comedy ensues.

Of course, this movie didn't win any awards or anything, and in fact wasn't even very popular outside of Canada (I don't think), but still, it's an interesting bit of history, both from 1998 and 1881.

For a while, there were plans to tear the building down and use the property for other means but the city fought to keep a piece of their history in tact and now the building is being renovated to become an retirement home.
